Richie is excited, 2 from 2 for 2's

After an early bye, the Launceston twos hosted Riverside at the NTCA ground. After a couple of showery days, the pitch was green and the conditions overcast and damp, so Risty decided we'd have a bowl. Despite some trouble with a very soft and slippery crease, Tulich soon locked into a good rhythm (he finished with the tidy figures of 0/10 of 10). At the other end, James Bowen (1/31 of 10) in  his first game with the twos this year, put it in good areas and asked questions of the opposition. It wasn't long before pressure from both ends saw a wicket fall (Caught Risty in his jumper, bowled Bowen). With continued tight bowling and energy in the field, Riverside were tied down and at the 25 over mark were 3/60. By this stage Fryett and Francombe had both chipped in with a wicket a each. From there, Riverside found some flow and ended up posting 5/157. Manktelow bowled with good control through this period and ended with 2/37 of his nine.

In reply, Launceston openers Fryett and Kingston negotiated some good bowling before Fryett was bowled for 15. Pyecroft came to the crease and immediately got busy pushing singles and playing Mark Waughesque cover drives for four. Kingston was the next to fall for 18 with the score 2/65 around the 20 over mark. From here, Pyecroft and Laskey combined for a 73 run partnership and pushed the run rate up above 4 an over. By the 35 over mark, the Lions only needed another 30 runs with 7 wickets in hand. Pyecroft (29) and Laskey (49) both fell soon after this point, however Tom 'The Ice Man' Gray again calmly saw us over the lion. Two solid wins in a row for the Launnie magoos!
