Launceston Cricket Club Book Launch
January 2012
Around 80 current and former players and supporters turned out for the launch of the Launceston Cricket Club history book - The Lions Roar. Author Jade Selby was on hand for the launch and was presented with a leather bound edition as a show of appreciation for his unwavering dedication and hundreds of hours researching the club’s history. The night also witnessed speeches from former player and administrator Phil McGee and former wicketkeeper and premiership captain, now current Tasmanian coach Tim Coyle. Coyle gave a passionate speech about his involvement with the club and the future direction of Australian cricket.
The Lions Roar tells the complete story of the Launceston Cricket Club and up to date player stats including 1st grade, 2nd grade and 3rd grade. Copies of the book are available to purchase for $40.00, for more information please contact Gavin Selby on 0418 202 681

History of the Launceston Cricket Club
Update: Plans are currently under way to launch the book in the December/January. The Club is seeking donations of $100. In return you will receive a copy of the book and free social membership for the 2011-12 season.
Over the last 9-10 years, Jade Selby has devoted countless hours at the library and the Examiner researching club history & statistics, locating photos, had many hours in talks with the late Ron Williams, the late Brian Bassano, and also with Rick Smith to produce an updated book of the HISTORY OF THE LAUNCESTON CRICKET CLUB.
However, with quotations of around $12000.00 to $16000.00 (depending on quantity required) to have it published, the club is finding it near prohibitive to fund this expenditure. With all the time and effort expended to make this great record a reality, we believe it is too important to have it lapse and not happen.
Therefore, we are seeking assistance from all associated with the club over the years to pledge your support with a donation to help bring this project to finalisation. We ask you to PLEASE GIVE SERIOUS THOUGHT TO THIS and help us to finalise the publication of this work to give our club and its players virtual immortality.
Donors providing amounts in excess of $100.00 will receive a complimentary copy of the publication when completed.
